A Night Back at Mircea: 130 Years of Stories
Mircea cel Bătrân turned 130 with a Nostalgia Party in its courtyard, and the partnership continues with an entrepreneurial, tech and AI bootcamp for its students.
There’s something quite specific about going back to your old school. You know the place, you remember the people, and somehow a familiar courtyard can bring back conversations you haven’t had in years.
On August 1, the courtyard of Colegiul Național „Mircea cel Bătrân” filled with former students, current students, teachers and friends of the school to celebrate its 130th anniversary.
The idea behind Mircea 130 · Nostalgia Party: bring the generations together and give them an evening to catch up, revisit old memories and enjoy the place they have in common.
Ambasada was happy to be part of the event alongside Zbor Hub Constanța. Together, we supported the relaxation area, a place to take a break, sit down and catch up between the evening’s activities.
There was plenty happening around the courtyard. The school’s anthem brought everyone together for a special moment, followed by Greek dances from Ansamblul Astras and live music from Trupa Discoteka. Later, projections lit up the college building, with familiar songs and images adding to the nostalgic mood of the evening.
And then there were the smaller details.
The retro photobooth, the Wall of Memories, the old school desks and the phone booth where guests could leave recorded messages all gave people different ways to revisit their school years. Even the biscuits brought a familiar taste of childhood back into the evening.
The event also brought together partners from across Constanța who helped make the celebration possible. Eastship Projects & Logistics, the main sponsor, was joined by SOCEP, Eugenia biscuits, Play Radio, Eventiland, Cult of Coders and Dolphin Travel & Events.
Their contributions reflected the different elements that made up the evening, from event support and entertainment to photography, refreshments and spaces for guests to spend time together.
We always appreciate opportunities to contribute to projects that bring people together around a shared interest or experience, and this one had a particularly local feel. Mircea has been part of Constanța’s story for 130 years, with generations of students carrying their own memories of the school into different parts of the city and beyond.
The partnership with the school continues beyond the anniversary. Together with Mircea, we are preparing an educational programme for its students: a bootcamp focused on entrepreneurial, tech and AI skills, built to give them a practical first contact with the tools and the way of thinking behind building something of their own. More details will follow once the programme takes shape.
