What happens when bold ideas meet execution, under the pressure of time and the support of a strong community?
Techstars Startup Weekend Constanța brought exactly that. Over 54 hours, participants moved from early concepts to structured ideas, working in an environment that mirrors the real pace and uncertainty of building a startup.
The event took place at Marco Business Center and was co-organized by Ambasada, Startup CT Community, and Kickstart Romania, bringing together local energy and experience to support a new generation of founders.
From first ideas to working concepts
The weekend started with introductions, setting the tone for collaboration between participants, mentors, and partners. After a series of icebreakers that helped people connect beyond formal roles, attention quickly shifted to one of the most important moments of the event: idea pitching.

Dozens of ideas were presented, each reflecting a different perspective on problems worth solving. Participants voted, teams formed organically, and within a few hours, initial directions were set.
From that point on, the focus moved entirely to execution. Teams began defining their problems more clearly, testing assumptions, shaping value propositions, and building early prototypes. The transition from idea to structure happened fast, driven by both time constraints and the collective energy in the room.

Mentorship and iteration
The second day introduced a deeper level of focus.
Mentors stepped in not just as advisors, but as active contributors to the process. Their role was to challenge assumptions, push teams to clarify their thinking, and help them prioritize what truly matters in the early stages of a startup.

The mentor lineup included:
- Cosmin Pîrvu – Veridion
- George Farăuanu – featherless.ai
- Paul Burcă – Assista
- Cătălin Cenac – OKAPI
- Teodora Moraru – Ambasada.pro
- Costin Sorici – Neuron English
- Daniel Draga – Rarecloud.io
- Cătălin Draga – KubeSage
- Mihai Drăgan – Oveit
- Cosmin Budinschi – Software Architect
alongside other contributors from the local ecosystem.

Each interaction added a new layer of perspective. Teams were encouraged to question their initial direction, refine their approach, and move quickly from theory to validation. What stood out was not just the quality of feedback, but the way participants absorbed and applied it in real time.
Final pitches and outcomes
By the final day, ideas had evolved into structured concepts, ready to be presented.
Six teams reached the final stage and pitched their projects in front of a jury composed of experienced professionals. The evaluation process, led by Oana Roxana Radu, George Șerban and Paul Burcă, focused on clarity, execution, and potential for development.
🥇 1st Place – UniEvents

🥉 3rd Place – City Waves

While these teams were recognized for their ideas and execution, the real value of the experience extended beyond the competition itself. Participants left with a clearer understanding of how to approach building a startup, along with new connections and practical experience gained under pressure.

Building momentum beyond the weekend

Through mentorship, networking, and a dedicated community hub, the goal is to support participants beyond these 54 hours and help them continue building.
Startup Weekend Constanța showed what can happen when the right people, context, and energy come together.
The next step is to carry that momentum forward.
Let’s build together. 🚀
